The animations on screen are very bland with the only being the selection screens and the different types of text for different languages. The dvd also plays a .ac3 audio track on the main menu screen which loops roughly every 60 seconds as it plays a instrumental version of the shows theme tune. The dvd can only be played in standard definition and is also in a +r format as it is a read only disc which allows the disc to not be re-written as to not accidently replace the .m2v and the .ac3 files.

MEAN GIRLS
Mean girls is on a +r dvd which allows the dvd to be read only it is also stored on a dvd 5 which contains 4.7 GB of storage space which contains the dvd  all of its options  its special features along with the film itself. Mean girls was also released on a vhs tape which did not include any of the earlier mention options or special features. the film also has multiple trailers that play before reaching the dvd menu screen the first of which is a trailer for an upcoming sponge bob film which is targeted more towards a family friendly audience, it then has a trailer for an interactive board game aimed more at a young female audience  then followed by a family friendly film trailer for the film school of rock, the dvd then continues to load more and more trailers that are all family friendly. The dvd menu screen is more advanced than the friends dvd screen this screen has different text as well as animations in the back round. The selected text is highlighted in a pink colour to help match the feel and vibe of the film itself as well as having all of the graphics and animations match the same feel as well it also plays a .ac3 file whilst on the menu screen. The menu screen has four options play which plays the .m2v file, set up which allows the viewer to adjust the settings for the film, special features which includes behind the scenes and directors commentary ( the directors commentary allows the viewer to add an extra .ac3 file that will play on top of the films original audio) and also scene selection which allows the viewer to choose at what point to watch the .m2v file from. The film also allows for subtitles which allow the  viewer to enable the .ac3 file to be played as an text file that will be applied to the bottom of the screen so that anyone who has hearing difficulties may be able to see the text and be able to understand the films story. The dvd is set to region 2 which means that it can only be played within certain regions which include the united kingdom, japan Europe and many other regions it is however only able to be played within these regions as the dvd is region locked and is only compatible with certain lasers. This dvd also loops a .ac3 file repeatedly as well as the background animations on the menu screen to entice the viewer into either looking into the special features or playing the film.

La haine

La haine starts off with a warning about piracy and gives additional information before playing various company logo animations. The dvd the transitions to the menu screen by using a smoke animation which then takes the viewer to the main menu screen. The main menu screen constantly loops a smoke animation as well as showing still images and small .m2v clips of the film itself. The menu also loops a  .ac3 on the menu screen with a song that fits the films plot and narrative. The menu screen has four options play feature which plays the .m2v file, scene selection which allows the viewer to choose at what point the want to start watching the film from, extra features which includes an array of directors commentary, and also a feature allowing the film to be played in colour (as the film is in black and white) along with trailers for other films. It also switches to a different animation and .ac3 file whilst in the special feature menu. Each time the viewer loads up a different menu or selects an option the option that has been selected will be highlight red as well as loading a brief .m2v which helps to transition to the next menu. Set up also plays a .m2v file in the background and has sound options which allows the viewer to choose between 2.0 stereo and 5.1 Dolby digital as well as commentary. The dvd itself is a +r non- re-writable 4.7 gb dvd 5 which is also set to region 2. Whilst the film itself does not contain an Easter egg an Easter egg is a hidden piece of content somewhere on the dvd, this can be as secretive as hiding a file out of site to a visual appearance of an object or a audio file being played on the menu , these can be triggered by all different kinds of things.  The film itself has been digitally re-mastered which includes a higher quality of picture and has also been reformatted for a region 2 pal re-release  as the film was originally launched on vhs tape so that this means that a lot of the extra content has been made after the films actual launch. The film itself also has subtitle text automatically at the bottom of the screen as the film was originally launched in France and has only recently been re-released in other regions and this text is not able to be disabled through the setup options as the viewer would be un able to understand the films plot as it is completely filmed in French. The dvd also includes the full film re-shot in colour so that It can help keep up with todays modern film.
